Sukhna port has registered a new global achievement after obtaining Guinness certificate for records as deepest port’s dock established on land with depth 19m, in a step that assures rapidness in Egyptian ports developments and their transfer to unprecedented competitive standards, in a scene that reflects the radical change that maritime transport system in Egypt witnesses.
This achievement comes in a chain of giant projects that aims at reformulating the Egyptian role on international trade map and within the framework of the state’s vision that targets converting ports from being just a crossing points into a comprehensive logistic productivity centers capable of supporting national economy and attracting investments. And this record is considered a fruit of sincere national efforts that reflect continuous working years and strategic long term planning and enhance the competitive capability regionally and internationally
Moreover, inclusion of the port in Guinness book of records was not a passing event but a coronation for a comprehensive developmental route that included deepening berths, infra-structure modernization, raising operational efficiency and services: in accordance with global international criteria applied in maritime transport industry.
Lieutenant general/ Kamel ElWazir, deputy prime minister and transport and industry minister has officially received Guinness certificate in a scene that carries clear political and developmental signs. And he assured that this is a result of a conscious political will that made of ports’ development one of its most important aspects, besides integration of national efforts that have participated in an ambitious plan that targets converting Sukhna port into an international hub port and a main gateway for Egyptian trade and also attracting direct foreign investments to maritime transport sector.
