The Egyptian state is ongoing developing ports and maritime fleet and attracting strategic partnerships, it has a plan that includes these three aspects. Egypt has 19 commercial ports amongst which 14 port ongoing their development, that are overlooking the Mediterranean and the Red Sea and they are: Arish, and East Port Said, West Port Said, Damietta, Alex and Dekheila on the Mediterranean and ports of Port Tawfik, Adabeya, Suhkna, Hurghada, Safaga, Nuweiba, Sharm ElSheikhand ElTour on the Red Sea. amongst which also are 5 new ports: Abu Qir, ElMax, Gargoub on the Mediterranean and Bernees and Taba on the Red Sea.
On the other side development of seaports includes establishment of berths and terminals, where it has been planned for the establishment of new berths of length 70km and depth from 18 to 25m, so that total berth lengths will exceed 100km berths. Also ongoing is development of the maritime fleet to reach 40vessel by 2030 that are capable to transport 25 million miscellaneous cargo tons annually, and this through companies affiliated to transport ministry, aiming at serving transport of passengers and strategic cargo from grains and petroleum between Egypt and rest of world countries.
Then comes aspect of attracting strategic partnerships through adding terminals that work using artificial intelligence technology, and as a result of the development that is achieved in Egyptian ports, we were capable of attracting 18 operator and investor and global navigational line, and these partnerships led that all such companies now work with AI and automated control systems.
Moreover, East Port Said port with its distinguishable location amid three continents, at Suez Canal northern entrance, works as a comprehensive logistic industrial center that serves Mediterranean, Middle East and Europe. And the port has been linked by a multipurpose transport network; tunnels 3 July at Port Said, where two tunnels have been established of lengths 9660m to link the port with Moahda road and 30 June road west the Canal, also linking it with railways where a railway has been established of length 42km from Balooza up till Port Said and also linking it with a network of main roads represented in a horizontal road Port Said- Balooza- Kantara- Arish Road). The government strategy represented in transport ministry is for developing maritime transport sector.
Worth noting that the National Navigation Co. owns a fleet of 14 vessel in addition to 4 contracted vessels and two others planned to be contracted on 2027 so that it will reach 20vessel by the year2030.
On the other hand, the Egyptian company for Oil Tanker owns two vessels and ongoing to contract 4 vessels to reach 6 vessels by 2030. Also, AlKahera Co for ferries owns two vessels and ongoing to contract 2more vessels to reach 4 vessels by 2030 and ElGesr ElAraby Co. has a fleet of 10 vessels. Also, worth noting that there are also facilitation of procedures for ports’ entrance and departure. Where entrance and departure gates has been fitted with truck identification system
