The Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector organized a workshop on Annex VI of the Marine Pollution Prevention Convention (MARPOL) at the Mirage Hotel in Smouha during the period 26-27 November 2024. The workshop was financed by the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as well as the voluntary contribution from the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, and is implemented by the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC).
Representatives of all parties concerned with implementing Annex VI participated in the workshop (the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector – Egyptian port authorities – the Egyptian Authority forMaritime Safety – Suez Canal Authority – Suez Canal Economic Authority – the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency).
RADM.Tariq Abdullah Ahmed – Head of the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector – delivered an opening speech in which he welcomed all attendees and thanked the REMPEC Center for granting this workshop and for the continued cooperation and support it provides to the Mediterranean countries to achieve IMO goals related to the implementation of MARPOL Annex VI , and other topics.
