Within the framework of enhancing cooperation with China in the field of maritime transport, H.E Rear Admiral Reda Ahmed Ismail, welcomed at the headquarters of the maritime transport sector today, 13/12 /2023. H.E Mr. Yang yi Consul General of China in Alexandria, and the consuls- members of the embassy, Mr. Jin Hui and Mr. Chen Jingming, – representing Chinese Ministry of Transport.

The Meeting casted the light on bilateral cooperation in the field of maritime transport in light of the support of the Egyptian political leadership to enhance bilateral cooperation with China and within the scope of the Belt and Road Initiative, also mentioning the participation of His Excellency the Prime Minister and His Excellency the Lieutenant General Minister of Transport in the third conference in Beijing last October, and the emphasis on the importance of the partnership between the two countries in The framework of the initiative, celebrating ten years since its launching, and the Egyptian side’s appreciation for the initiative’s pioneering role, Their excellences as well discussed future cooperation BRICS organization as Egyptian membership starts January 2024.

H.E Mr. Yang Yi – Consul General of China expressed the Chinese side’s appreciation for the efforts exerted at the ports sector, the projects implemented in a short period of time, and Egypt’s pioneering role in maritime connectivity and global trade through Egyptian ports and the Suez Canal.

It was agreed to enhance maritime cooperation in light of the desire of Chinese ports to sign sister port memorandums with Egyptian ports, as well as the desire of Chinese companies to become more involved in port infrastructure projects in terms of management and operation.

It was also agreed to study the Egyptian proposal to enclosure of the Sokhna-Alexandria logistical axis on the Silk Road route, in a way that serves the initiative and enhances the Egyptian role as such corridor entails infrastructure ,multimodal transport development and serves global trade.
