Project objective:

  • Abu Qir Port is considered one of the major national projects serving global trade and transit trade in the Mediterranean, in addition to the establishment of a number of new multi-purpose marine terminals, handling of clean dry bulk cargo, handling of vehicles (Ro-Ro), and other distinguished petroleum services. It is also the first port to use the latest artificial intelligence technologies in operating port operations.

Project specifications:

  • Located in Abu Qir Bay on the Mediterranean Sea, east of Alexandria and west of the Rosetta branch of the Nile, the port currently has 1.4 km of Berths and a depth of 12 meters.
  • Current Berths and Terminals: Abu Qir Maritime Port has (10) quays for general cargo, dry bulk, and petroleum services, with a total length of 3,358 meters and a draft ranging from 8 to 12 meters. It also has a container terminal quay with a total length of 1,200 meters and a draft of 18 meters.
  • Berths are under construction: 3 quays with a total length of 6,250 meters and a draft of 22 meters, and a quay with a length of 650 meters and a draft of 17 meters.
  • A development plan has been prepared for the port, which includes the construction of quays with a total length of 10.1 km and depths ranging from 17 to 22 meters, and the construction of breakwaters with a total length of 9,400 meters.
