Lieutenant general/ Kamel ElWazir, deputy prime minister and transport and industry minister has assured that maritime transport sector has witnessed comprehensive developmental works, pointing out that Sukhna port is one of the Egyptian ports that witnessed such development, and that we have planned to reached 100km berths at terminals, after being 37 km berths previously
He added that we refused to give foreign companies the right to establish the infra-structure of the terminals and berths have been established by Egyptian companies and with international specifications also developing the old berths and deepening the terminals’ depths, and we are planning to reach 26 m berths’ depth in order to receive giant vessels, where deepest draught was previously 17m at East port said port, but we was capable of reaching 100km berths of depths 18m and also 3 new ports have been established, and here he pointed out that cargo volume was doubled and planning to reach 300 million handled cargo , and currently we have reached to more than 200 cargo tons.
