Alexandria port has received the ecofriendly container vessel «CMA CGM SALAMANQUE» that operates by liquefied natural gas, to limit environmental emissions in maritime transport industry and cope with international environment criteria and green initiatives.

The vessel that flies Malta flag, has berthed on Tahia Misr multi- purpose terminal at Alex port, that is considered one of the biggest and latest specialized terminals in Egypt inaugurated by president Sisi in the year 2023.

Alex port spokesperson Mr. Ahmed Bereka’, said that Tahia Misr terminal capacity exceeds 1.5million TEU, 2million general cargo tons and 100thousand Ro-Ro unit.

He pointed out that the arrival of the vessel with draught 9.4m, length nearly 205m and works with natural gas, without environment polluting emissions, is considered a part of Alex port vision to convert the port into a green port and preserve environmental sustainability that copes with Egyptian national green initiatives.
