Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel El Wazir, deputy prime minister and for industrial development and industry and transport minister has undergone important debates with Soren Toft, MSC CEO for joint cooperation between the two sides in the field of transport and logistics and injecting new investment in Egyptian market.

 El Wazir has praised such cooperation with MSC ,which owns the biggest navigational line in the world, in a number of important projects in Egypt in the field of Transport and logistics such as the project of the dry port and logistic region in 10th Ramadan city and establishment of “Tahia Misr2” multipurpose terminal project at Berth100 at Dekheila port, pointing out that the ministry welcomes cooperation with all international companies and that the investment climate in Egypt is promising  and there are many investment opportunities in the field of transport, dry ports and logistic regions.

 From his side MSC CEO has expressed his happiness with this meeting and with cooperation with Egyptian Transport ministry in a number of important projects and it has been agreed upon for more meetings between the two sides during the coming period to debate joint cooperation frameworks for the achieve of a big leap in transport and logistics between both sides.  After which El Wazir has witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Land and Maritime Transport holding company affiliated to Transport ministry and Swiss international  MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA ,Concerning studying and specifying possible fields of cooperation between the two sides in managing and operating dry and seaports and shipping facilities at railways and logistic regions, where the memorandum has been signed by Dr. Amr Mustafa  Land and Maritime Transport holding company executive managing director and Soren Toft , MSC CEO, the signing ceremony was attended by admiral/ Ashraf Ellouzy , transport minister assistant for companies and authorities  and Eng. Mohamed Fathi, transport ministry assistant for maritime transport and Eng. Karim Fahmi, head of board of directors of MSC Egypt.

El Wazir has also assured that such cooperation comes amongst the strategy of transport ministry for Egypt vision 2030 in transport sector and maximizing benefitting from Egypt unique situation and converting it into a regional center for transport, logistics and transit trade, pointing out that the state is steadily moving forward to develop the infra-structure of such vital sector, achieving integration between all transport means and reducing trade costs and fulfilling sustainable economic growth rates; supporting the national economy.  Where one of MSC affiliated companies undergoes a study for the possible opportunities of managing and operating a number of vital projects according to latest international standards in the fields of ( Egyptian seaports development and maximizing its competitive abilities on regional and international standards- managing and operating containers terminals and maximum benefit of Egyptian ports capabilities in this sector- developing shipping system by railways and linking all Egyptian ports by industrial regions )hence participating in reducing transport costs and load on land roads and also cooperation in other fields related to maritime transport to be agreed upon according to the strategic needs of both sides.

Worth noting, that it is expected that such agreement will participate, once implemented, in increasing handling rates in Egyptian ports, create new job opportunities and will support national economy through increasing revenues from maritime transport and logistics sector and will set specific implementation plans to activate the partnership; achieving maximum benefit for both side and enhancing sustainable development course in Egypt.
