Damietta port is considered one of the main trade cornerstones in Egypt, as it has a great capacity and competitiveness in container handling and receiving giant vessels from all over the world.

 Throughout the past year the port has dealt with about 46 million cargo tons whereas container handling volume has reached 1.77million TEU, and the port berths are of about 9 kilometers length.

 Moreover, within the framework of an ambition plan and with the support of lieutenant general, Kamel ElWazir, deputy prime minister for industrial development and transport and industry minister, the port is steadily moving towards reinforcing its role as a regional center for transport and logistics; the ongoing and future projects include “Tahia Misr 1 “ container terminal with berths of length 1970 m and depth 18m and a hinterland reaching 922 thousand square meter

 Also ongoing is the accomplishment of the Western Breakwater of length 5400m on four routes after the fulfillment of the Eastern breakwater of length 1420m .

   The port also witnesses launch of ““Tahia Misr 2 “ multipurpose terminal project of length extending up to 3320m with depth 18m and with yards of about 2.2 million square meter  and hence strengthening the port’s capacity.

 This in addition to the grains terminal with lengths reaching 850m with depth 850m and a hinter yard reaching 270thousand square meter, thus strengthening the port ability to deal with different shipment types: whether containers and general cargo or liquefied and dry bulk and grains

 Damietta port is ongoing an ambitious plan to enlarge and increase its capacity in the light of the increasing demand for its services and hence reinforcing its status as a main gateway for maritime trade in the region.
