The Egyptian state is seeking to convert into a regional and international center for transport and logistics, thus transport ministry is ongoing implementing 7 comprehensive logistic channels to link between seaports, the two seas the Mediterranean and the Red sea and production centers and new urban communities, this within the framework of a comprehensive developmental plan for transport system all over the republic.
These 7 logistic channels are represented in the following:
1- Sukhna- Alex logistic channel:
which extends from Sukhna port at the Red sea until Grand Alex port; thus creating a direct transport channel linking between most important port on the Red sea and biggest port on the Mediterranean.
2- Arish- Taba logistic channel:
which starts from Arish port on the Mediterranean up to Taba port of Aqaba bay , hence enhancing linkage between Sinai and Arab Levant.
3- Cairo- Alex logistic channel:
Goes from New Upper Egypt train station at Bashteel region, linked with Grand Alex port in order to support cargo traffic between the Capital and the port.
4 Tanta- ElMansoura – Damietta logistic channel:
That extends from Tanta logistic region passing by ElMansoura up to Damietta port, through new railway line ( Tanta- ElMansoura – Damietta) hence serving Nile Delta.
5- Gargoub- ElSaloom logistic channel:
extending from Gargoub port on the Mediterranean until ElSaloom port, supporting trade exchange between Libya and North Africa countries.
6- Cairo- Aswan- Abu Sinbel logistic channel:
that includes second line of the rapid electric train and western desert road; linking Cairo by Upper Egypt until Abu Sinbel
7- Safaga- Kena- Abu Tartour logistic channel:
extends from Safaga port at the Red Sea passing by Safaga logistic region, linked with railway line (Safaga- Kena- Abu Tartour) in addition to rapid electric train network.
Channels’ strategic objectives:
- serving New urban communities by linking them with strong modern railways and roads network ( Diesel- train- rapid electric train), hence ensuring easy arrival to which and support its sustainable development.
- enhancing economic development, through supporting industrial agricultural and mining regions and transporting products from production places to ports and distribution centers rapidly and efficiently.
- maritime and logistic linkage through linking Egyptian ports on the Red Sea with ports on the Mediterranean. Hence making Egypt a strategic bridge for trade traffic between the East and West.
