Within the framework of the state’s plan for sustainable development and “Egypt vision 2030”, and implementing president Sisi instructions to convert Egypt into a regional center for transport, logistics and transit trade, the government is ongoing implementation of a comprehensive plan for developing the transport system all over the republic; including the establishment of 7 comprehensive logistic channels. Such channels aim at linking regions of industrial, mining and agricultural production with seaports, whether on the Mediterranean or Red Sea and passing by dry ports and logistic regions; through roads and railway networks; whether the traditional or highspeed electric train.
Such channels include Sukhna- Alex channel that extends from Sukhna port on the Red Sea passing by dry 10th Ramadan port and logistic region and linked by a railway network through ElRubeeky-10th Ramadan – Belbees line of length 63.5 km and is linked with the industrial region with 10th Ramadan and then passing by Cairo and 10th of October industrial city and the dry port and the logistic region until it reaches Grand Alex port.
Moreover, ongoing implementation of Arish- Taba channel, that starts from Arish port on the Mediterranean and reaches Taba port of Aqaba bay and passes by heavy industries regions in mid Sinai, and serves the ongoing logistic regions that are establishment in ELTour, Rafah, ElOwga, ElHasna, ElNaqab, Taba, Ras Sedr and Beer ElAbd.
On the other hand, Cairo- Alex channel starts from Upper Egypt trains ‘station in Bashteel and serves the dry ports; Al-Sadat and 6th October and is linked with Bashteel- Elated- Etay Elbarood – ElKabary railway line through Kafr El Dawar – Al-Sadat juncture of length 36km and another of ElManashy- 6th October of length 68 km until reaching Grand Alex port.
Also, work in ongoing in Tanta- Mansoura- Damietta channel that starts from the logistic region at Tanta in order to serve industrial and agricultural production regions of Kwesna, Tanta, Kafr ElZayat, Mahalla, and Mansoura and linking them with Damietta port through Tanta- Mansoura- Damietta railway line and passing by the dry port in New Damietta.
The projects also include Gargoob- ElSaloom channel that starts from Gargoob seaport on the Mediterranean and reaches ElSaloom harbor. And this port is considered the biggest land port in Egypt and aims at reinforcing trade exchange traffic in Libya and is linked with logistic region east of Saloom by a railway line of length 223km.
