East Port Said port affiliated to Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCEZ) ranked third place globally and first regionally in containers port  performance indicator (CPPI) for the year 2024 issued by the World Bank, thus assuring the port’s status being one of the fastest developed and most efficient ports all over the world.

 This achievement in containers’ field comes as coronation for SCEZ efforts in modern infra-structure  investment  and adoption of strategic reform. Mr. Walid Gamal ElDin , head of SCEZ said that this success is the fruit of cooperation with partners of different concerned entities in the state  and with Suez Canal authority that has provided with complete support, and also SCCT company affiliated to  A.P. Moller–Maersk which has played an important role with its global experiences and investments  in order to raise the efficiency of the port and developing its operational structure, and  assuring that such achievement is not the last but a new step towards more success that will support Egypt vision 2030, and at the same time assures on Egypt’s status being a regional center for trade and logistics and an advanced step towards enhancing SCEZ role being an international gateway for trade between the East and West.

  Worth noting that CPPI issued by the World Bank, measures ports’ efficiency through several criteria that includes vessels ‘waiting time at ports and stevedoring processes efficiency and infrastructure quality and digitalization standards in port’s management  and extent of ports’ integration with transport network and logistic services.

 The report has shown  that East Port Said port  is considered amongst most improved ports between the year 2020and 2024 so that it occupies now the third place globally and first regionally, and it was ranked tenth internationally in 2022 indicator, and he also declared that such achievement comes as a result of  many investments and strategic reforms that included enlarging  the container terminal and applying ports’ digital systems , in addition to improving vessels’ scheduling; that participated in reducing time of vessels’ stay in port, enhancing operational efficiency. Also ongoing is a big enlargement to Suez  Canal container terminal SCCT in East Port Said that targets increasing its capacity by 2.1 million TEU more in order to reach 6.5 million container annually, this enhances the port’s opportunity in occupying more advanced position in international indicators during the coming years.
