In an official statement Damietta port authority media center has announced that the port has witnessed a noticeable activity where it has received eight vessels and ten vessels have departed, so that total number of vessels existing at the port has reached twenty seven vessel , and this number reflects the port’s commercial traffic vitality and assures its status being one of most important arteries of Egyptian economy.
General cargo export traffic has reached 27796 ton, whereas containers’ traffic has registered 958 exported TEU, 3171 transit TEU.
On the other hand, grains and yield silo’s stock for public sector : for wheat has reached 46567ton , whereas private sector stock reached 10177 ton , also three trains with total tonnage 3747 wheat ton have departed towards Kom Abu Radi silos, whereas trucks traffic , entrance and departure, has registered 6284 traffic
This shows the strategic importance of Damietta port as a main platform to secure the citizens’ needs and support import and export traffic, in a way that participates in enhancing national economy and reflects the port’s pivotal role in supporting regional and international trade.
