Damietta port is being prepared to soon launch a ro-ro maritime transport line with Italian Trista port in accordance to the protocol signed last year between Damietta port and Trista port to facilitate sustainable operation of ro-ro maritime transport line between Egypt and Italy by using trucks (dry/ reefers). also, there were experimental processes at the port to facilitate trucks traffic procedures of the line, which included detection of contents of trucks carrying the cargo by using mobile modern devices specialized to work in Damietta port with highly detection power (x ray 60) and rapid flexible detecting movement, hence participating in regularity, efficiency and speed of the logistic process starting from vessels’ anchorage on ro -ro berth up to trucks’ exit from the port in cooperation with all concerned bodies.
Head of Damietta port authority has also assured the readiness of all port facilities, specially the ro-ro berth to receive vessels on the line that is expected to operate soon; following vice admiral Kamel El wazir, deputy prime minister for industrial development and industry and transport minister, due to its national importance and which is considered an Egyptian cargo transport gateway especially for Egyptian agricultural crops to Italy and most European countries, hence participating in increasing Egyptian export traffic to different world countries.
