Lieutenant general/ Kamel ElWazir, deputy prime minister and industry and transport minister announced Egypt winning a seat in IMO general assembly, this during the elections undergone today amid an international praise of Egyptian developing role in supporting maritime transport system globally.
This winning comes to assure Egypt pioneering role in maritime transport sector and an enhancement of the international community trust in Egyptian efforts in developing ports and maritime channels and supporting maritime safety and security criteria and environment protection.
Egypt participating delegation has presented in IMO elections the great capabilities that qualify Egypt to be elected for IMO membership specially as a pioneering maritime country. Also, the delegation has reviewed what Egypt has implemented during past few years and its ambitious strategy to develop and modernize existing ports and establishment of new ones and its role in supporting regional and international trade, especially in the existence of most important international maritime channels in the world in it: the Suez Canal.
