The Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector, in cooperation with 2B Studios for media production and marketing , in the new city of El Alamein, organized “THE BEST“ Conference in its first edition to sustain excellence, creativity, and innovation in the field of maritime transport in the presence of Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the Chinese Consul and the Saudi and Chinese commercial attachés, and with the participation of a large number of maritime transport leaders, shipping agencies, logistical support agencies, customs and the private sector.

The conference aims to enhance cooperation, competitiveness and creativity among the participating elite decision makers and representatives of the private sector to exchange experiences and knowledge necessary to develop this field consummately, and thus enhance their chances of attaining success and excellence in this advanced field.

During the conference, two panel discussions were held. The first was moderated by the Head of the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector; RADM.\ Reda Ahmed Ismail, and deliberated means of maximizing yacht tourism and the measures taken by the Egyptian government to encourage and promote yacht tourism in light of the directives of the political leadership, while the second panel discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Saeed Abdel Aziz, Professor of Public Finance at Alexandria University, and discussed investment opportunities in the maritime transport sector. It explored the efforts of Egyptian ports to improve ports infrastructure, increase its competitiveness, and advance the multimodal transport industry. It also reviewed the achievements of the private sector, available opportunities and the main adversities facing private sector in this field.

Subsidiary to the conference, and coinciding with the celebration of the International Day for Women Working in the Maritime Field, which the International Maritime Organization called for celebrating, The Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector honored Dr. Engineer Fatima Al-Zahraa Al-Imam Muhammad Al-Mansi; one of the female workers in the field of maritime transport from the Damietta Port Authority, as well as honoring the name of Captain Hossam Thabet Abdel Hafeez, the Master of the ship “Beata” , who has been missing since the ship’s fire broke out while he was on board near the Turkish coast.

It is worth noting that the honoring came simultaneously with the celebration of Seafarers Day by the International Maritime Organization.

Amer Group Co. was also honored with the award for “The Best Pioneering Company” in the field of tourism development for more than 30 years and as the oldest yacht marina overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt, as well as honoring “The Best Project” for students of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in the field of clean energy in maritime transport under the title “ Energy Storage in Containers ; a Better Solution to Reduce Ship Emissions in Ports and the Anchorage Area.”
