As part of efforts to promote the transition to sustainable maritime transport, the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector, in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), organized an educational visit for youth. The visit was hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and included a guided tour of the library followed by an awareness session titled Green Shipping Career Opportunities”.

The session was delivered by experts from the IMO, alongside prominent figures from Egypt’s maritime sector. It aimed to introduce young participants to the importance of the maritime industry and highlight promising career paths, especially in light of the global shift toward emission reduction and environmental sustainability.

The presentation covered the maritime sector’s pivotal role in global trade, Egypt’s strategic position via the Suez Canal, and the environmental challenges posed by maritime emissions. It also highlighted IMO’s GHG strategy and the GreenVoyage2050 programme, which supports Egypt in adopting green shipping technologies.

The session ended on a high note with lively interaction, reinforcing the call to engage and empower youth —of all genders — to contribute to the future of green maritime transport.
