Egyptian maritime ports has witnessed an unprecedented leap since year 2014 until 30september 2025, this within a comprehensive state’s vision to convert Egypt into a regional center for transport, logistics and transit trade, depending on its unique location that links between the Red sea  Mediterranean and Suez Canal; one of the most important navigational channels in the world.

  Transport ministry has translated this vision on earth through a comprehensive strategic plan that aims at creating logistic channels that links between production, industrial, agricultural and mining regions and the maritime ports, through several modern secure transport means, also developing berths and navigational lines and the establishment of giant logistic regions and also it has been planned for adding more than 70km berths of depths ranging between 18 and 25m in many ports so that total berths’ lengths in Egyptian ports will reach 100km; to be capable of receiving 400million cargo tons  and 40 million TEU annually.

Examples of which  is  the grand Alex port: Tahi Misr multipurpose terminal has been established with lengths 2.5 km and capacity reaching 15 million ton, besides developing grains and wood berths and corridors to link with ElTaameer corridor, establishment of new dry bulk terminals, breakwaters of 7km, logistic region of area 273feddan.

 Whereas Damietta port has witnessed establishment of multipurpose and container terminal Tahia Misr 1 which is considered one of the most modern container terminals in the middle east of capacity 3.5 million TEU, in addition to developing breakwaters and implementing  a new grains and yields terminal. also a maritime Ro- Ro line  ( Damietta / Triesta) has been launched; which will open a new gateway for Egyptian exports to European market.

 On the other hand, Red Sea ports has witnessed a boom represented in developing Nuweiba’ port, establishment of new yards in Safaga port amongst which Safaga2 multi- purpose terminal on an area of 810 thousand m2, and ongoing establishment of a new port for fishermen.

 Also in Sukhna port ongoing is implementation of one of the giant  developmental projects; adding 18km berths, logistic regions and handling yards on an area exceeding 8 million m2 and a railway network of length 30km, and also operation of Hutchison terminal that includes most recent modern giant cranes in the world.

 Moreover, Arish port has witnessed an expansion of berths to reach 3.6 km, and establishment of new  breakwaters, besides launch of a giant project of Gargoub maritime port  establishment on the Mediterranean with berths extending 14km and handling yards of  7km2.

This in addition to signing strategic agreements for green hydrogen production. And in Bernees port there has been accomplishment of multi-purpose berths and others for containers of length 18m whereas ongoing Abu Qir port development to be of depth 22m; which is one of the biggest maritime depths in the world.

 Furthermore, to enhance maritime transport national capabilities transport ministry is developing Egyptian maritime fleet to reach 38 vessels; to be owned totally by companies affiliated to which by the year 2030, and capable to transporting million cargo ton annually,; amongst a comprehensive plan to support national navigational lines and ElGesr El Arabi and oil tankers. Also strategic partnerships have been done with major  international companies and navigational lines for containers’ terminals operation as

HPH and Dubai Ports. وCMA وMSC وMAERSK وEURO GATE وCOSCO

Thus enhancing transit trade and doubling Egyptian ports efficiency.
