Egyptian state is seeking to convert Egypt into a regional center for transport, logistics and energy, this within a comprehensive framework to maximize economic revenues and enhancing national security and raising the state’s ability to confront regional and international crisis , also as it possesses a distinguished geographical location between the East and West , in addition to the existing infra-structure that can be developed and enlarged to meet the increasingly global demand of energy and others.
The plan focuses on developing and raising the efficiency of petroleum ports in Zaityat, Suez and Alex, this is done through treatment of operational congestions and replacement of old lines; allowing for receiving giant tankers, hence decreasing shipping and logistic services costs and increasing rapid response to the market’s needs. This raise in ports system efficiency and infra-structure do not only targets reducing costs but also securing arrival of petroleum products in time of crisis whether locally or internationally; on occurrence of any lack in supplies, and this integrates with the expansion in Edko and Damietta liquefied gas terminals, where ongoing is raising their capacity and exporting abilities. And by this integration between developing the infra-structure and raising of ports’ efficiency Egypt puts a solid foundation to become a regional center granting it a global international status
