Within the framework of enhancing maritime cooperation between Egypt and African partner countries, H.E. Rear Admiral Reda Ismail, Head of the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector, received H.E. Major General Richard M. Makanzo – the accredited Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Arab Republic of Egypt and a high-level delegation from the Embassy of Tanzania at the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector Headquarter today 14th of January 2024.
The meeting discussed enhancing maritime cooperation and transferring Egyptian expertise and training within the framework of the STCW Agreement, as well as cooperation in the field of ship repair and duplicating Egyptian exports to Tanzania to serve landlocked countries in East Africa.
Also highlighted the successful visit of the delegation of the Tanzanian Ports Authority October last year to the maritime transport sector and the General Authority of Alexandria Port also acknowledging Egypt’s appreciation for Tanzania’s role as an important maritime country in East Africa.
Their excellences agreed to hold an virtual meeting in the presence of the relevant authorities in both countries, joint coordinated by the Maritime Transport sector and the Embassy of the United republic of Tanzanian in Cairo, and to work closely to sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of Maritime Transport and set an implementation plan to enhance maritime cooperation.
