Transport ministry has announced inauguration of Customs building (joint examination committees building) :at “ Tahia Misr” multi- purpose terminal at Alex port, where it was inaugurated by admiral/ Ahmed Hawwash, head of Alex Port authority commissioned by lieutenant general Eng. Kamel El Wazir deputy prime minister for industrial development and transport and industry minister and Dr. Ahmed ElKaranshawy , head of Alex Customs Central Department and other officials.

 The ministry’s statement has pointed out that this step comes after success of accomplishment of the implementation works of the Joint examination  building enlargement of an area 320m2; where it has been divided to accommodate all stakeholders. Including detection, examination, inspection, food safety, exports, imports and others. Where it includes 14 window, outdoor places for more than 20individual and other 4 directly overlooking the terminal’s  examination check yard. The building is distinguished by automated recalling system that allows for organization and ease of movement for individuals.

 The ministry’s statement has declared that this inauguration participates in enabling the terminal to deal with more cargo amounts and raises efficiency through speed up checking and Customs ‘ clearance and providing with different display places. Hence, giving the terminal a competitive advantage, and reduces waiting span time of containers in addition to providing with better facilities for companies, trucks and customers and enhancing commercial expansion , especially with  the expected increase of international trade traffic and changes in  shipping industry and also participation in making Customs processes more flexible and efficient.



This step importance lies in  supporting exports and imports’ traffic, with the terminal undergoing experimental operation for  RAILWAY CONTAINER STATION – RCS)) which has been established and implemented within the framework of transport ministry strategy for the establishment of comprehensive developmental logistic hubs to link maritime ports ;dry and land ports with boarders’, industrial, agricultural, mining and services regions through railways’ network . to make Egypt a regional center for transport, logistics and transit trade and to enhance and develop multipurpose transport between maritime container terminals and  railway terminals to maximize the handling volume with the consecutive traffic of cargo transport through railways lines between October dry port and Tahia Misr terminal at Alex port.
