Within the framework of enhancing maritime cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and Malta, a, high-level virtual meeting was held between the two sides, headed by Rear Admiral Reda Ahmed Ismail, Head of the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector, and Ambassador Roberto Pace – Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Deputy Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Malta, in the presence of the representative of the International Cooperation Unit and the ports of Damietta and Alexandria, and with the participation of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Head of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the CEO of the Transport Company in Malta, the Director of Policy and Program Development, Implementation Directorate, the Advisor to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Director of the Port, and the CEO of Ports and Yachts, Directorate of Transport.
Malta Meeting discussed enhancing cooperation in the field of maritime safety and joint promotion in the field of yacht tourism in light of the distinction of the Maltese port of Valletta and the possibility of signing a letter of intent to promote Egypt as a tourist destination in light of the two countries’ membership in the Med Cruise Organization. The meeting also discussed future cooperation in the field of green ports, the application of environmental standards, the expansion of the implementation of the OPS system.
meeting also touched on the keenness of the two sides to cooperate in the field of ship registration, flagging, and training of seafarers in accordance with the STCW convention, agreeing to conclude a governmental memorandum of understanding for the points of mutual interest, appointing contact points for maritime cooperation, and holding a follow up meeting. by the end of December.
