Damietta port authority has received inspection and safety procedures review committee at Egyptian ports, headed by admiral/ Sherif Zakaria, deputy head of Maritime Transport and Logistics sector, and on behalf of admiral Tarek Adly, the authority’s head, admiral Ahmed Hamdy deputy head of board of directors headed the inauguration session, this in the attendance of the authority’s officials and Control authorities inside the port’s community.
The meeting has witnessed an explanatory presentation reviewing most outstanding recommendations issued in previous inspection report and what have been achieved in this concern.
The committee’s members after which, accompanied by deputy head of board of directors for operation, have made many field’s visits that included a number of the port’s facilities; aiming at reviewing implied procedures and safety system to guarantee individuals and establishments’ safety and security, in addition to the follow- up of emergency plans and scenarios to deal with crisis and employees’ readiness for implementation.
Also the inspection has included review of civil protection preparations and discarded cargo status besides the inspection of a number of warehouses and yards to assure on fulfillment of all civil protection requirements and conditions.
From his side admiral Tarek Adly, head of Damietta port authority board of directors, has assured that the authority gives great importance to the development of the working system and raising its efficiency and pointing out that the port is ongoing taking all required procedures to guarantee highest standards of safety, security and environment protection. This besides continuous review of procedures, hence participating in accelerating stevedoring process and reducing Customs’ release time in cooperation with all entities that represent the port’s community.
