<span;>Safaga seaport has witnessed passage of first shipment amongst the new multi- purpose regional trade channel experimental operation ; which links Egypt and KSA and Iraq in a step that reflects the port’s strategic role in international regional trade system. The shipment has been launched from the capital “Cairo” through the new national roads network that links the Egyptian governorates with seaports, passing by Safaga port to Saudi Neuom port by the Red Sea, and to complete its voyage by land till Iraqi Arbil city; hence participating in reducing transport time to more than 50% compared with traditional routes. This achievement comes within the framework of lieutenant general / Kamel ElWazir, deputy prime minister and transport and industry minister, instructions to provide with all required facilities for trade in between and supporting exerted efforts for Safaga port development; converting it into a comprehensive logistic center serving international trade traffic in the Red Sea.

<span;> Moreover, admiral Eng./ Mohamed Abd ElReheem, head of Red Sea Ports authority has followed up the project’s experimental implementation step by step; and directing for the necessity of raising the efficiency of the port’s services and the flow of shipping traffic ; reflecting the authority’s commitment to cope with national instructions for Egyptian ports’ development.
<span;> Success of such experience reflects result of integration between the modern infra-structure, especially the rapid road railway and the continuous port’s development efforts, hence enhancing Safaga port status being a strategic gateway for regional and international trade.
