Within the framework of the state to develop Egyptian ports according to latest global standards, container terminal “Tahia Misr1” at Damietta port witnesses a noticeable development, which is considered one of the biggest national projects in the port; where berths extend to a length of about 1970m, depths reaching 18m and with backyards reaching about 922 thousand m2 and of capacity reaching 3.5 million TEU.

Currently ongoing implementation of the terminal super- structure by the operating company “Damietta Alliance Co.  using latest developed operation system and technicalities that assure complete readiness for highly efficient operation, in a way that enhances the port’s competitiveness on international maritime transport map.

The project is implemented in partnership with an international alliance that includes German “Eurogate”, Italian “Contship Italia” and the global navigational line “Hapag-Lloyd”, and this reflects trust of international associations in the investment atmosphere of Egyptian ports’ sector.

There are giant cranes that are being installed at the terminal of lifting power reaching 75 ton, and with capability to reach vertically 57.5 m above berth surface; hence allowing for dealing with giant vessels up to 11 container heights, in addition to an outer arm of length 72m that can serve biggest global vessels’ widths.  Thus, the terminal entering service represents a leap in transport and logistics system and participates in enhancing Egypt’s role being a regional hub for containers’ trade and supports export and import traffic.
