Within the framework of reinforcing cooperation with Sierra Leone Republic in the field of maritime transport, Alexandria port authority has received today a highly ranked delegation to discuss aspects of maritime cooperation, the delegation was headed by Mr. Daniel Katebi on behalf of transport and aviation minister and Mr. Siela Sadek Sierra Leone ambassador in Egypt and head of transport and aviation committee in the parliament and a number of maritime sector representatives.

 The delegation was received by admiral/ Tarek Abdallah, head of maritime transport and logistics sector and admiral/ Ahmed Hawwash, head of Alexandria port authority.

 The meeting has dealt with the Keenness of Egyptian transport ministry to reinforce maritime cooperation  in the light of distinguished relationships between the two countries, Sierra Leone presidential infra structure initiative and also the instructions of vice admiral/ Kamel ElWazir, deputy prime minister for industrial development and industry and transport minister to deepen cooperation and partnership with Sierra Leone in infra structure projects there, participating in implementing Sierra Leone president vision. Also transporting Egyptian expertise has been discussed in the field of investment projects, ports’ operation and seafarers’ training according to STCW.

 The Sierra Leone side has expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome of Alex port authority and the desire to continue towards implementing joint activities and inviting Egyptian investors and companies to develop Sierra Leone maritime transport system; following the example of giant developmental projects whether that have been accomplished or ongoing at Alex port and will qualify Egypt to become a regional center for trade and maritime transport.

The meeting was concluded by maritime transport and logistics sector signing a governmental MOU between Egyptian transport ministry and Sierra Leone aviation and transport ministry in the field of maritime transport. Ports’ development and investment projects

 Worth noting that the delegation has visited the authority’s berths and multi-purpose terminal “Tahia Misr” and also EAMS and planned to visit Damietta port authority the following day to witness the developments there and the implemented projects in Egyptian ports.
