Cargo Traffic in Main Egyptian Ports
In 2006, Egyptian ports handled about 106.6 million tons compared to 97.5 million tons in 2005, achieving a growth rate estimated by 9.4%. Egyptian ports have achieved a successive increase in transit cargo (with an increasing rate a year after another). In 2006, it was estimated by about 28.3 million tons with an increase of 33.7% than 2005. It is an important indicator that Egyptian ports occupy an important position as a hub port in the region, especially East Port Said Port, which has only about 47.7% of the total handled transit cargo in Egyptian Ports.
