It is permitted for the registered maritime units to move by the coast of Egyptian ports, as recorded maritime units work inside the local port only (except for some kinds, which can sail between Egyptian ports, on the condition that it would be towed by a vessel or a registered unit.

Conclusion

Egyptian owned vessels can carry about 11% of the Egyptian foreign trade. Unfortunately they carry only 5.7% since the merchant fleet is in a bad need of crude fuel deep sea tankers, liquefied natural gas tankers and container vessels. Egypt has to provide these types of vessels in the future in addition to renewing and increasing the number of existing general cargo and dry bulk vessels.
There are great investment opportunities in owning vessels operating in non-coastal maritime services for petroleum and gas fields and platforms to replace the foreign vessels.
