The total wages and requirements and what was spent on investment projects for the purpose of the development of ports and the Egyptian Maritime Safety Authority reached 508.9 million Egyptian Pounds in 2004/2005. The total incomes of the MTS, the Egyptian main ports and the Egyptian Maritime Safety Authority reached 1.8 billion Egyptian Pounds.

The direct income, which was directed to the state treasury, has doubled. Thus, Every Pound spent on Maritime Transport for the financial year 2004/2005 has Returned 3.5 Egyptian Pounds as direct income to the country compared to 1.7 Egyptian Pounds for the financial year 2003/2004. This was due to the decrease in the expenditures for the year 2004/2005, as it reached 508.7 million Egyptian pounds in 2004/2005 compared to 823.7 million pounds in 2003/2004, with 38% decrease rate, besides, the indirect incomes achieved through customs, taxes, income of Maritime Transport Companies, maritime agencies, container companies, Maritime Transport Companies and rail ways.
