The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport
The Minister of Transport chairs the executive committee of the Arab Academy for
Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the committee of the Port Training Institute
management and the board of directors of Maritime Research & Consultation Center
affiliated to MTS.
Port Training Institute
- MTS provides the financial support of the Institute every year from the Maritime
Subsidy Fund with an amount of 150000L.E. in order to support the Institute activities
besides the reimbursement of the participation fees of any MTS trainee in the Institute.
- Since its establishment in 1982, Port Training Institute trained, qualified and
raised the efficiency of about 67069 trainees from different cadres working in ports
authorities, maritime transport companies, containers handling, etc…..
- The number of training courses delivered by the Institute during the same period
reached 4947 training courses.
- In the field of international cooperation, 3645 trainees were trained and 177 training
courses were held.
Maritime Research and Consultation Center (MRCC) affiliated to MTS:
MTS assigns MRCC with conducting researches and studies for MTS and ports authorities
with regard to the evolution, updating and development of human resources for a
sum on a case by case basis as well as the subsidy allocated to the Center in MTS
annual budget that reaches 100000L.E. In item (3) Services and Researches. Second
section: Service Requirements besides an amount reaching 400000 from the account
of maritime subsidy fund.

In the framework of the implementation of ISPS code, the Regional Institute of Maritime
Transport was established in July 2003 with a financial subsidy from the Maritime
Transport Sector reaching 7million L.E. The Institute was adopted in September 2003
as a legal counselor for assessing the vessels, ports, ports facilities, and security
plans as well as training the Egyptian maritime cadres

cadres for implementing the ISPS provisions |
