Transport minister reveals details of state’s plan for developing maritime transport system.

 Transport minister, Hesham Arafat has stressed on importance of maritime transport in supporting Egyptian economy and achieving required development.

  Arafat has assured, in his meeting with head of Suez Canal authority and of Suez Canal economic general authority, Mohab Mameesh to present the state’s strategy for developing maritime transport system, on necessity of developing ports especially after becoming similar to important economic cities and a source for work opportunity and combating unemployment.    

 He added that we are in bad need of activating maritime ports role and attracting more investments at surrounding industrial regions. Hence last period has witnessed cooperation between the ministry and Suez Canal authority to set a strategy for developing maritime transport system.

 He declared that this strategy will be implemented   by a number of steps most important of which developing maritime ports, linking ports with multipurpose transport means, accomplishment of current maritime transport projects and starting new projects soon, best exploitation of ports’ infrastructure and developing stevedoring system.  

  The minister continued saying that also the human factor will be developed by providing advanced training programs  and developing legislative structure  to cope with international agreements and obligations.
