REPORT ON THE COMESA RIGIONAL TRNASPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOP
Egypt , Alexandria 6-8 August, 2005
INTRODUCTION:
The COMESA Regional Transport and Communications Workshop was held from 6th to 8th August 2005 at the El Mahrousa Hotel in Alexandria, Egypt.
ATTENDANCE:
The Workshop was attended by delegates from Burundi, Congo D.R., Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe .
OPENING OF THE MEETING:
The workshop was officially opened by Rear Admiral Shereen Hassan Mahmoud who delivered the opening statement on behalf of the Minister of Transportation, His Excellency Honorable Dr. Essam Shraf. In his opening statement he welcomed all the delegates to Alexandria and urged them to feel at home while in Egypt. He informed the Workshop that the Minister could not be present at the opening because of other commitments and that he would be coming to address the Workshop on its closing session on Monday.
OVERVIEW OF COMESA PROGRAMMES:
This Presentation Provide a brief on COMESA Programs containing its vision and the Programs it undertakes to realize this vision. The Programs cover Trade Liberalization, Trade Facilitation, Transit Transport Facilitation, Investment Promotion and Private Sector Development and Infrastructure Development in Energy, Transport and Communications.
