Cargo Throughput in Egyptian Ports

The Egyptian ports handled about 97.5 million tons in 2005 compared to 82.2 million tons in 2004, achieving a growth rate estimated by 18.6% with a larger increase than the achieved in 2004, compared to 2003 (11.4%).
Egyptian ports have achieved a successive increase in transshipped cargo (with an increasing rate a year after another 8.4%, 20.5% and 27.8%). The year 2005 was estimated by about 21.2 million tons, with a bigger increase rate estimated by 37% compared to 2004, which is a very important indicator.

N.B:

In 2005, the percentage of containerized local handled cargo (Exports – Imports) has reached 14.6%.
