containerized cargoes representing 31% and 12% consecutively of the total
handled cargo in the Egyptian ports. 2.9 million TEUs were also handled).

Alexandria port was the most frequented port of call 31%.

Damietta port occupied the first place in handling TEUs: 1.15
million TEUs with 39.5% of the total handled containers in Egyptian ports. (87%
are transshipment containers. Thus, Damietta port terminal surpassed the 1
million containers limit in 2004 and became the most important containers port
in Africa.
